WELCOME TO OUR FARM

Hello! My name is Meghan, and this is my family. My children Brookleigh, James, and Emmalee are the inspiration behind my farm name and they are my whole world. They would joke and tell you I love flowers more than them most days, which is not true incase you believe them!

I will say, every day I'm in my garden, which is every day spring through fall, I'm in awe of all that is around me-the colors, the smells, the sounds, the bugs, the dirt, to see plants grown from seed, the beauty and constant changing...everything about it causes an indescribable soul moving feeling. I like to believe that my great great grandmother was surrounded by large hydrangea bushes and a potager garden taking up her entire yard. That is how I want to be envisioned someday-A loving wife, mother, with gardens taking up her entire yard! Or to be put simply: someone who loved to nurture.

My mother always had, and still has beautiful gardens. The love for gardening was instilled in us siblings at a young age. We were always helping with garden tasks such as building rock walls and paths, digging small ponds, mowing, and weeding. When my mom would host parties during the warmer months, we were often sent out to pick jars of flowers for arrangements. It was one of my favorite tasks to do. I can remember as a child daydreaming in school about gardening and I couldn't wait to get home. I would take my mother's magazines and save photos I liked of gardens. I'd watch movies just to see the gardens. I've been captivated by gardens my whole life and when I see my kids playing in the flower rows or picking a fresh tomato, it brings so much joy to my life and I know their lives are better because of the gardens.

Now a little bit about the farm! Emma J Brook Flower Farm was establish in 2019. I am what you call a microfarm. I farm on not quite an half acre. My growing space may be small in comparison to what traditional farmers grown on, but I'm able to produce great abundance in my small plot. I garden organically, no pesticides ever. I've been experimenting with making my own fertilizers with materials on the farm. We have pet chickens, ducks, and one turkey named Sarah, that provide us with manure and egg shells go into the compost bins. I ferment rice and milk to make inoculant sprays, sort of like probiotics for your plants. I have vermicompost made with worms residing in our basement. My kids have asked people if they want to see our pet worms, which I find absolutely hilarious. I have a no-till garden system made up of raised beds and paths.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you find much beauty when looking at photos of flowers I have grown.

Meghan
